Our Vision
Our name pays homage to Josephine Baker and Billie Holiday, two women of color who were persecuted for their cannabis consumption and yet used their art to fight against injustice, rejected the mainstream, made their own rules, and most importantly, held the door open for other women who will come after them.

Josephine & Billies is committed to being a voice for women of color in the space, a demographic that has been overlooked for far to long. it is our goal to bring first in class cannabis education, access and community to communities of color nationwide.

Reduce Harm: Deliver educational programming for both customers and the greater West Hollywood community to promote understanding of legal cannabis regulations, further destigmatize all forms of cannabis use, and normalize cannabis industry-related employment in the public zeitgeist.
Create Jobs: Bring young people, people of color, women, and LGBT individuals into the legal cannabis retail industry with innovative training, equitable compensation, and family benefits within a safe and reputable enterprise.
Promote Consumer Safety: Ensure consumers are better informed about the cannabis products they use, with a clear understanding of potency, effects, and benefits of each product, as communicated by extensively trained and certified staff. This includes an intentional focus on the health of the consumer and how cannabis can be used to address their specific ailments.
Assist with Restorative Justice: Promote equitable employment opportunities and disregard any nonviolent cannabis-related incarceration or criminal conviction noted on employment applications. A portion of every sale made will be donated to the Black AIDS Institute, the only national HIV/AIDS think tank focused exclusively on the Black community, which has been disproportionately affected by HIV/AIDS since the epidemic’s beginning.
